My flight today took me from Charlotte North Carolina to Cherry Point MCAS North Carolina. So do I fly out of New York and DC and Boston all the time? Not at all. Good luck trying to hand fly an ils approach with choppy frame rates. Those 10 minutes are the most important especially the last 5 min. I might play a bit more with that texture size tweak. Now all I need is to get rid of those 5-10 second loading freezes when coming closer to addon airports.

additionally I set my TV screen's refresh rate to 59 Hz. I purchased FFTF Dynamic at Simmarket yesterday during the sale and set it to manage my Fiber Frame thingy tweak below 5000ft. I prefer reduced number of objects than to watch objects constantly loading within my view so when things get jittery I reduce objects which can be done while flying. I was just amazed at how much it improves the scenery load distance without effecting the performance much. We all have our priorities and what we expect. I much prefer nice terrain and scenery during the majority. So I don't mind some low 20's FPS for 10 minutes out of the entire flight. Take-off is 5 minutes and landing is 5 minutes. But I‘ve always required a good upper 20s in FPS for being satisfied as a TrackIR user so I use this tweak relatively seldom.

The less aircraft systems your pc has to calculate the more scenery and autogen you can display. It sure looks great but if flying complex airliners it will kill the performance obviously. I sometimes use it when flying A2A aircraft and stay rather low.
I have just not removed the note yet and it's now part of my cockpit.
I needed notes right in front of my face. PS: the sticky note on GPS is from my first days of flying the P51. If you are using this tweak already what are your experiences? If I start getting very low FPS near a very large city like New York or such I will pop in to settings and reduce scenery complexity. As you can see from my settings photos below I'm running them fairly high and still getting good FPS. I'm running 10 on my system and very happy with it.
The higher the number the more of a performance hit you will receive. The higher the number the farther out the sim will draw objects. Open your Prepar3D.cfg file and find section then add at top of section. My point is, if you have not attempted this tweak yet you might give it a go. So, my system is fairly powerful and my P3D settings fairly high. Flying farther away from cities I get upwards of 45 FPS with multiple cloud layers and 70+FPS at higher altitudes. They are being drawn as far as you can see and still I'm getting 22 FPS with multiple cloud layers from ASP4 & ASCA. Here is a photo of McGhee Tyson RDW RWY 5. There is, in my experience, a slight performance hit but I only really notice it near larger cities. With this tweak the sim inserts them much farther out and you will not have blankets of objects suddenly appearing in front of you. I've never been a fan of watching objects popping in as I approach them. I've been using it for quite some time now and find it amazing. I'm curious if anyone else is using this tweak. I did a search of the forums and only found one thread that mentions this tweak and only in passing.
